Dealing With The Problems Of Online Auction Law

Online auctions are a great way to find what you are looking for, and at a great price to boot. There are certain hazards that come with online auctions and if you do not know what the laws are and how to protect yourself you are likely to get in a lot of trouble. This is why it is so important to educate yourself and make sure you know what you are doing before going on any auction site. Most auction sites are scrambling to get more laws enforced, to protect the decent buyers and sellers who are going through their sites.

Because online auctions are relatively new, there has really been no time to enforce proper laws and these are still being worked on as we speak. There are more scammers than ever who are heading to auction sites and trying to con people into scams, especially since there are practically no laws guarding them against this. When you go through online auctions like eBay, they offer detailed information on each seller and you even get to read reviews that have been given by other members. Just because they have a lot of legitimate items to sell, this...

Getting Started With A Swap Online Auction

There are the regular auctions you are used to, through companies like eBay and Etsy. More and more people are taking the opportunity to turn to the Internet to get what they need, and find it at a great price to boot. Of course the main difference between these and other auctions is that you do not use money to buy items here. The main difference with these auctions is that instead of someone using money to bid on an item, you use another item to swap in place of money.

In the swap online auctions it is all about negotiation and finding someone that has something the same value as you do who is willing to swap with you. Regardless of what you are interested in offering to swap, the first step is finding out where you can go to get started. As the saying goes, what is one person’s trash is another person’s treasure and so you never know what someone else is going to be interested in. Although there are a few different swap online auctions available today, one of the very best is the BidnTrade site.

One of the best things about this online...

Beware of the eBay Scam
By Peter

eBay is the best universal marketplace on the internet, you can buy and sell to people that are on the other side of the world. However, the amazing technology opens the door for scam artists as well. No matter how legitimate a seller may seem, the anonymity of the internet creates an open field for the con artist and scam artist.

Most Common eBay Scam

The most common eBay scam occurs when a buyer bids or does a Buy-it-Now on an item and then asks you to immediately ship out the item via express mail. Most people think that they will be able to tell the difference between a real sale and a fake but it is very difficult to distinguish. Commonly, scammers pose as Nigerians that are out of the country on business or are in the country and sending out an item to a family member overseas.

Sometimes they will do the Buy-it-Now option. In order to avoid these sorts of eBay scams, set guidelines when you have that option. For instance, you can make it so the person has to have at least 10 positive feedbacks or whatever number you choose before they can buy it now. You will notice that scammers often have zero feedback or private so others cannot view it. You can also set these qualifications for regular auctions just to be sure.

eBay scammers have gotten smarter because they now even incorporate PayPal. Normally what they will do is send an initial e-mail saying that they have bid on or bought your item and they need you to send it out immediately, via express mail. They say that they sent the money through PayPal but that PayPal will not release the money until they have a tracking number (meaning you shipped it) for the buyer’s security. This is never true! PayPal will never hold your money unless your account is frozen for some reason.

Then the scammers even go so far as to create a fake PayPal e-mail. They will use the PayPal logo and they make the e-mail look as official as possible. They make PayPal’s e-mail explain exactly what their e-mail said only in more sophisticated terminology. Therefore, don’t ever trust an e-mail. First of all, if you’re an experienced user, there are ways to tell the difference. For example, an e-mail from PayPal will be username@PayPal.com whereas a fake e-mail will be PayPal@ Yahoo or Gmail or Hotmail.com. Fake e-mails will never have the PayPal server e-mail, it is impossible. Pay attention to this. Not to mention, in most cases eBay scam artists will send PayPal e-mails with very broken English.

The best and most sure way to know whether or not you have received a payment is by signing into your PayPal. eBay scam artists can send you messages through eBay or through e-mail but they cannot make it appear like you have money in your account if you do not. Never send an item out or take any action until you see that money in your account. Once it is there, it is yours to do whatever you want with. Surprisingly, eBay scammers get away with these sorts of things every day; you’d be surprised how clever they can get. There’s no way to know for sure unless you have the money in your account!

The Government Car Auction Provides Option

If you want to survive in the world these days, you will need a reliable car. The operative word here is reliable. Simply having a car is not going to do any good if the car is in the shop or is constantly having to deal with mechanical breakdowns or any other type of problems.

This is why most people prefer to purchase a new car as opposed to investing in a used car that may come with a ton of problems that would yield a ton of problems down the road. Of course, in order to purchase a new car a person will have to have the money to afford a new car. However, this may completely be out of the price range of many people so they are forced to purchase used cars and to take their chances.

Fortunately, there is an alternative for those who may have apprehensions about purchasing a used car that may come with a host of hidden or unknown problems. That is to say, rather than risk purchasing a lemon there is an alternative and that alternative is the common car auction as provided by the government. Yes, the government is in the...

Finding Free Government Auction Sites

Buying from free government auctions is one of the most effective ways to save money on your supplies and other equipment for use at home and at the office. Many government agencies and institutions often auction off their surplus supplies and equipment. In most cases, these surplus supplies and pieces of equipment are sold for a fraction of the original price so you can save a lot of money if you buy these items from free government auction sites.

Are These Items In Good Condition?

Most of the government surplus items that are put up for auction are in good condition although once in a while there are some defective items that get into the auction. These incidents cannot really be avoided especially if the items that are up for auction are bundled in bulk. Since government surplus items are usually being sold in an “as is” basis, meaning you are buying these things in their present condition, it always pays to be very careful of the things that you buy especially when you are buying electronic gadgets and equipment. To make sure that you are not buying defective goods do some research. If you live near the area...
